Today, the Olympics continue with the ILCA 6 & 7, the 470, the Nacra 17, and the Kite Foilers - the wind forecast is moderate at 9-14 knots. Although no medal races are scheduled, the first medal decisions could be made early tonight in the two ILCA classifications: If Marit Bouwmeester NED can maintain her lead of 26 points, she will surely win her second gold medal. Matthew Wearn AUS is 16 points ahead in the men's event; if he manages to extend his lead to 20 points, he will have successfully defended his Olympic title. ...and Maud Jayet SUI is currently 3rd !!!! The aim is to optimize the starting position for the Medal Race! The 470s sail their races 7 & 8, with Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in 10th place fighting for a place in the Medal Race. The kite-foilers again have 4 races on the program - Elena Lengwiler SUI on third could confirm the expectations. ----- The rankings. We will again be reporting live throughout the day from 12 noon.
