IRC - Middlesea Race - La Valetta MLT - Day 2

112 teams started yesterday in Malta for the Middlesea Race, a 650-mile race around Sicily and Lampedusa back to Malta. ----- This morning, the fleet passed the north-west point of Sicily, with the two 100-foot maxi ‘Scallywag’ with David Witt HKG leading by one mile ahead of ‘Black Jack’ with Tristan Le Brun FRA. Also well in the race is the only Swiss Franco Niggeler SUI with his Cookson 50 ‘Kuka 3’ (skipper Mitch Booth AUS), 60 miles behind in 9th place of the 82 teams remaining in the race. ----- There are still 270 miles to go to the finish, which is expected to be reached tomorrow night.
