The South Indian Ocean currently offers very varied conditions: Instead of the usual ‘motorway of the south’ with constant fresh westerly winds, there are currently three areas of low pressure with peaks of up to 40 knots, but also very flat transition zones in between. At the top, the duo Charlie Dalin FRA (macif) and 37 miles behind him Sébastien Simon FRA (Groupe Dubreuil) were able to pull away thanks to a southerly course.
