Olympic Games 2024 Marseille FRA Day 10 Sommer Lull
Yesterday's programme in Marseille was hampered by poor conditions. The ILCA Medal Races had to be postponed until today. Only the Nacra 17s were able to complete their three races: Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA go into today's Medal Race with a 14-point lead, the gold medal is unlikely to be taken away from them. Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG remain in 2nd place, followed 6 points behind by John Gimson/Anna Burnett GBR and Micah Wilkinson/Erica Dawson NZL on equal points in 3rd place. The 470s also completed their qualifications with two races:
Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI delivered the beat of the day yesterday when they moved up from 17 to 1 in the first race on the second cross ! In the second race they finished 9th and are therefore in the medal race today in 6th place overall. They even still have a theoretical chance of winning a medal, as they are 17 points behind 3rd place. Lara Vadlau/Lukas Mähr AUT are in the lead with a 7-point advantage over Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP. The lull was dramatic for the kite-foilers: In the women's only race, half the fleet got stuck in a wind hole in the pre-start phase and missed the start. Favourite Laurian Nolot FRA moved to the top with a race win, Elena Lengwiler SUI was one of the victims of the conditions and fell back to 5th place, her gap to 3rd place is 10 points. The Kite Foil men were able to finish two races. Toni Vodisek SLO leads with 3 points ahead of Max Maeder SGP. All rankings.
