29er, 420, Laser Radial, RS:X, Nacra 15 - World Sailing Youth World Championship 2016 - Auckland NZL - Day 4
Monday, December 19, 2016
The first World Champions are known after today's races: Tim Mourniac/Charles Dorange FRA, finishing 1/3/1 in the Nacra 15, cannot be overtaken in the last race tomorrow. For Dorange, this is the third Youth Worlds Gold Medal, as he was first in the two previous multihull event sailed on the SL-16 Cat. Ugolini/Giubilai ITA (47 Pkt.), Screve/Brill USA (48 Pkt.) and Demesmaeker/Maenhout BEL (51 Pkt) will fight for Silver and Bronze.
Overall winners are also Nathasha Bryant/Annie Wilmot AUS in the 29er Girls. Alexandra Melzacka/Maja Micinska POL and 2 points back Greta and Kate Stewart NZL will duel for the remaining two medals. In the 29er Boys, Gwendal Nael/Lilian Mercier FRA have to defend the frist place agains Crispin Beaumont/Tom Darling GBR in the last race. John Cooley/Simon Hoffmann AUS are on a safe way to Bronze.
In the 420 Boys, the title will most probably go to Wiley Rogers/Jack Parkin USA 12 points ahead of Ido Bilik/Ofek Shalgi ISR and Fausto Peralta/Martin Arroyo ARG 2 points more fighting for Silver. 8 points is the advantage of Julia Szmit/Hannah Dzik POL on Alexandra Stalder/Silvia Speri ITA in the 420 Girls. Olivia Belda/Marina Arndt BRA moved up on rank 3.
Finnian Alexander AUS has a considerable lead in the big Laser Radial Boys fleet. The only threat is the now discarded premature start penalty from race 1, but a moderate position the last race will be sufficient for the title. Paolo Giargia ITA follows on the 2nd place 8 points ahead of the tied Carrson Pearce USA and Ismael Iess ESP on rank 3. In the Radial Girls, Hannah Anderssohn GER has taken the lead only one point ahead of Dolores Moreira URU and also Maria Erdi HUN 5 points behind has still a chance for the title.
Ioav Omer ISR with three bullets this morning UTC is the premature World Champion in the RS:X Boys Windsurfers. He is now 29 points ahead of Sil Hoekstra NED, Mack Van den Eerenbeemt ARU is on 3rd. On a safe way to the title is Emma Wilson GBR in the RS:X Girls with an 11 points' advantage on Katy Spychakov ISR. Yue Tan CHN and Maria Belen PER follow at equal points on the 3rd position.
