In the flat transition zone from trade winds to the westerly wind belt, the first group of the fleet has moved together: 1680 miles from the finish, only 153 miles separate Sam Goodchild GBR (4th place) from Justine Mettraux SUI (8th place). Due to losing a foil, Boris Herrmann GER has dropped to 12th place. The strategy of Alan Roura SUI with a route in the center of the South Atlantic has not proved successful, as the group on the South American coast has pulled away and is 400 miles ahead.
