29er, 420, ILCA 6, Nacra 15, Formula Kite, iQ-Foil Windsurf - World Sailing Youth World Championship - Riva ITA - Day 4

Good northerly winds prevailed in the morning, but in the afternoon, the southerly wind could only establish weakly and died early. The ILCA 6, 29er, and 420 men did not race at all. ----- Before today's final race, Danai Giannouli/Kerkezou Lakovina GRE are the new world champions in the women's 420. Their lead over Esther Rodenhausen/Luisa Becker GER is 43 points. ----- The two iQ Foil titles also appear to have been decided: Federico Pilloni ITA already has a 42-point lead in the men's race, with another 5 races on the program today. The seabreeze set in late yesterday in Newport, but it was enough for a light wind race. On the third day of the Junior World Championships on Lake Garda, the Ora was only blowing lightly, some classes were only able to complete a reduced programme. In the iQ-Foil Windsurfer, Federico Pilloni ITA was once again the day's best with 1st and 3rd place, extending his lead to 15 points. Robin Zeley SUI is still 17th. The dominant Carola Colasanto ITA took her 7th race win in 9 races in the women's event. Chloë Huguenin SUI is now 15th. There was only one race for the Formula kiters: Lucas Fonseca BRA continues to lead the men's race by 2 points ahead of Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI. In the women's event, Maria Turrienza ARG had to admit defeat for the first time after 8 race wins. Tim Lubat ESP took the lead in the men's ILCA 6 with an 11-point advantage. Matthew Chassot SUI moved further ahead and is now 15th of the 62 participants. In the women's event, Alina Shapovalova UKR dropped back to 3rd place after two unlucky races. Hermionie Ghicas GRE is now back in the lead, followed by Shana Burger SUI in 27th place. In the 29er Open, the leaders Ewa Lewandowska/Krszysztof Krolik POL lost some of their lead with 15th and 18th place on the day. Finnian Morris/Charlie Gran GBR closed the gap to 6 points. The Youth World Championships started yesterday afternoon on Lake Garda in a moderate Ora and all 10 classes could sail a full program. ----- A strong start by Malena Rüegge/Liv Wicki SUI in the Women's 29ers who took the lead with two wins in 3 races! ----- As expected, Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI is also among the front runners in the Formula Kite: with 2/1/2/2, he is in second place behind Lucas Fonseca BRA. ----- Federico Pilloni ITA leads the men's iQ-Foil Windsurfers, and Robin Zeley SUI is 14th of the 38 participants. ----- Carola Colasanto ITA dominated the women's windsurfing competition, winning all 4 races. There was plenty of wind yesterday at the start of the Sail GP final. For the first time this season, the teams sailed with the smaller wing sail. 'Team France' with Quentin Delapierre FRA mastered the conditions best and took the lead with places 1/3/3. 'Team GBR' with Giles Scott GBR is 3 points behind.
