Laser Standard - World Championship 2012 - Boltenhagen GER - Day 6

Two races of the finals by fleet were sailed yesterday at the Laser Worlds on the Baltic Sea, initiallly in an 8 kn breeze, increasing to 16 kn during the day. With the day ranks 3 and 5 as well as the second discarded result, the defending champion Tom Slingsby AUS has a 20 points' advantage before the last races today. Considering the announced fresh breeze, the title will be his without any doubts, while the Silver medal is on the tablet already for Tonci Stipanovic CRO, as his advantage on the third-ranked, the surprising international newcomer Juan Maegli from Guatemala, age 23, is even 24 points. Andrew Maloney NZL, Andreas Geritzer AUT and Tom Burton AUS on the ranks 4-6 have still their chances for the Bronze medal. The local favorite Simon Grotelüschen GER however is out of the top group down on rank 11. The results, the report and the videos.
