Melges 24 - World Championship 2011 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Day 1

The promised 20 kn Corpus Christi seabreeze did not show up on the first day of the Melges 24 World Championship. Initially blowing with 8-10 kn, the wind increased to about 14-16 kn during the two races sailed, both with US team as winners. In the overall rankings, the Australian 470 Olympic Champion Nathan Wilmot AUS steering the Irish 'Emabrr' has taken the lead with the rank 2/5. Only one point behind follow the defending Champion Lorenzo Bressani ITA ('Uka-Uka') and Eidvind Melleby NOR ('Full Medal Jacket'). Not far behind follow with the same number of points on rank 4 Kristen Lane USA, winner of the second race of the day, and Franco Rossini SUI with his'Blu Moon'.
