Day 5 of the Palma Worldcup event was for the first time favoring the big-breeze specialists. But these conditions came too late for Tonci Stipanovic CRO, best of the day with the ranks 2 and 4, 11th overall, who missed the Medal Race of the Lasers Standard by two points. The new leader is Simon Grotelüschen GER (1 and 6 yesterday), 7 points ahead of the Olympic Champion Paul Goodison GBR. Tom Burton AUS follows 12 points behind. Just 6 points behin the Australian, Charlie Buckingham USA is close to a medal in todays final race.
In the Lasers Radial Alicia Cebrian ESP defended her lead in the with a solid 10 points advantage on Evi Van Acker BEL and 15 points on the World Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED. The changed conditions were also too late for Paige Railey USA (video interview to fully recover from rank 55 on day one to the top ranks. As best of the day (1/4), she terminated the event on the 11th place missing the Medal Race by 11 points.
