The World Sailing Gala Evening takes place every year on Tuesday of the Annual Meeting and part of it is the presentation of the "World Sailors of the Year". Carolijn Brower NED and Marie Riou FRA were honored for their leg-victory at the Volvo Ocean Race aboard of 'Dongfeng'. Pavlos Kontides CYP is the winner (and defender) as Laser World Champion. Btw Kontides was the first Cypriot to win an Olympic Medal (London 2012).
