The JJ Giltinan-Trophy, the inofficial 18-Footer World Championship 2017, began yesterday with the Invitational Race. Very light winds prevailed and the race had to be abandoned after one round.
'Asko Appliances' with Marcus Ashley-Jones AUS and the multiple JJ Giltinan winner Seve Jarvin AUS as crew crossed the finish line with a considerable 4 minutes' advantage over 'Smeg' (Lee Knapton AUS). Rank 3 of the USA 'Harken' (Howie Hamlin USA) and rank 4 of NZL 'Yahama' (David McDiarmid NZL) were a wake-up call for the experienced Sydney Harbour teams. This Saturday morning UTC, leg 1 of the Giltinan just finished was held in light winds and rain. 'Yahama' with David McDiarmid NZL won ahead of 'Coopers Rag & Famish' and 'Thurlow Fisher Lawyers' with Michael Coxon AUS. The 2 hours' video.
