Ella Maillart SUI First women helming at the Olympics An exposition at Musee Bolle in Morges SUI
The Genevan Ella Maillart SUI was the first woman at the helm of a sailing yacht at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. Just a small stopover in an extraordinarily adventurous life. She was also a member of the national ski team and coach of the national land hockey team. She travelled the world as a reporter, and there is still a permanent photo exhibition of her pictures in Karakol in Kyrgyzstan. Among other things, she travelled from Geneva to Afghanistan by car together with the writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach - a report. The Musée Bolle in Morges is showing pictures and films of the versatile adventurer until 2 June.
